- Frequently asked questions
Six thousand pounds deserves eight questions. Before you buy Ultra Bee HP – from us or anyone else – check the seller, decide between X and T, confirm the licence position, verify the spec, compare the price like for like, ask who handles the warranty, confirm the inspection and understand how the bike reaches you. This guide takes each in turn, from Surron E-Bikes in Coalville, Leicestershire.
The Ultra Bee HP X is £5,999 and the HP T £6,295 at the time of writing; the product page has live stock.

Check 1: is the seller an authorised Sur-Ron dealer?
At this price the seller matters more than the colour. An authorised dealer buys through Sur-Ron’s UK distribution, which is what makes the warranty valid here, guarantees UK specification, and – for the T – means a certificate of conformity the DVLA will accept. A marketplace listing a few hundred pounds cheaper is usually an import without any of those. When you buy Ultra Bee HP, ask the question directly; a dealer answers instantly.

Check 2: X or T?
Same powertrain, two homologations. Decide how you will use the bike before you buy Ultra Bee HP, because you cannot convert one into the other later.
| Ultra Bee HP X | Ultra Bee HP T | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | £5,999 | £6,295 |
| Powertrain | 24.5 kW peak, 520 Nm, 74 V 60 Ah | Identical |
| Road legal | No – off-road only | Yes – type-approved L3e motorcycle |
| Lights, mirrors, horn, plate mount | No | Yes |
| Licence | None off-road | A1 (125-equivalent) class: from 17 on a CBT with L-plates, or a full A1/A2/A licence |
| Registration and tax | None | DVLA registration with the certificate of conformity; £27 a year tax |
| Best for | Tracks, trails, private land | Riding to the trail, green lanes, commuting |
Check 3: the licence and the law
Legally the HP X is a motocross bike – ride it on private land with permission or at a venue, never on a road, path or bridleway – while the HP T is a registered motorcycle that can go anywhere a 125 can, including green lanes that are legally roads. The T needs a CBT from 17 (or a full A1/A2/A licence), insurance, registration using the certificate of conformity we supply, and £27 a year in vehicle tax.
The upside of that status is simplicity: no registration, no MOT, no tax, no compulsory insurance, and no licence needed. A specialist off-road policy covering theft and damage is cheap and sensible, and a CE-marked helmet, gloves, boots and a chest protector should be treated as part of the purchase.
Check 4: the specification
Confirm the bike is the 2026 HP – new motor, Turbo mode, 18-inch rear, belt primary – rather than a standard Ultra Bee or older stock. The full HP specification:
The figures below are Sur-Ron UK’s published MY26 specification for the Ultra Bee HP. They are the numbers to check any other listing against.
- Motor: 24.5 kW peak in Turbo, 21.5 kW in Sport, 520 Nm at the rear wheel
- Top speed: 59 mph (95 km/h)
- Acceleration: 0–31 mph in 1.84 s, 0–50 mph in 3.7 s
- Battery: 74 V 60 Ah lithium-ion, 1000 W charger, 20–80% in 2.5 hours
- Range: up to 115 km (71.5 miles) at a steady 31 mph
- Weight: 88.5 kg kerb, 50:50 balance on a forged aluminium frame
- Suspension: 240 mm front travel, adjustable air rear shock
- Wheels: 19″ front (80/100-19), 18″ rear (100/90-18) off-road tyres
- Ground clearance / seat: 315 mm / 910 mm

Check 5: the price, like for like
Our prices are £5,999 for the HP X and £6,295 for the HP T including VAT, with the inspection, charger, warranty and (for the T) the certificate of conformity included. Compare any other figure on the same basis.
| Listing | Fair? | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| £5,999 X / £6,295 T at an authorised dealer | Yes | Colour in stock, delivery cost, deposit option |
| “New” HP well under £5,700 | Caution | Import? UK charger? Warranty? CoC for a T? |
| £6,500+ “with PDI and delivery” | Overpriced | PDI should be included; our delivery is £19.99 |
| Used HP | Depends | Battery health, invoice, V5C for a T |
Not ready to pay the full £5,999 for the X and £6,295 for the T today? A 50% deposit takes a specific Ultra Bee HP off sale and holds it for you; the balance is settled before the bike leaves us. It is a simple reservation arrangement rather than a finance agreement, so there is no credit search and nothing to be approved.
Check 6: who handles the warranty?
Ask what happens if the controller fails in month four. At Surron E-Bikes the answer is “our workshop, here” – the bike comes to Coalville or we collect it, the claim goes through Sur-Ron’s UK distribution, and you talk to the people who sold it. Our warranty page sets out the cover. A seller who cannot describe the process does not have one.
Check 7: is there a pre-delivery inspection?
An Ultra Bee HP arrives from the factory crated. Before you buy Ultra Bee HP from anyone, ask what they do to it before hand-over. Ours get:
- Every fastener torque-checked, including spindles, swingarm pivot and the belt cover.
- Brakes bled and checked, pads and discs inspected.
- Belt tension and final-drive chain checked; sprockets inspected.
- Spokes tensioned, wheel bearings checked, tyre pressures set.
- Battery charged, charger tested, controller verified, modes and traction control checked.
- For the T: lights, indicators, horn and mirrors checked; certificate of conformity matched to the frame number.
Check 8: how it reaches you
We do not post bikes in a box. A Ultra Bee HP is pre-delivery inspected and charged in Coalville, then driven to you in our van (£19.99 inside 150 miles of the showroom, a quote beyond that) or handed over in person if you collect. Collection is free, and it is the best option if you want to sit on the bike, ask questions and see the parts counter.
Timescales are short: orders are processed within 24 hours of payment clearing, and most deliveries happen within a few days depending on where you are. If anything arrives damaged, our returns policy explains exactly what happens next.
Delivery day is short and practical. The driver unloads the bike, shows you the battery and charger, runs through the modes and leaves you the invoice with serial numbers. Photograph it and store the battery indoors that night – two habits that protect the bike and your insurance.
Ready to buy Ultra Bee HP?
Tell us X or T, the colour and your postcode. We will confirm stock, the delivered price and a date.

After you buy Ultra Bee HP: insurance, storage and the first ride
For the X, an off-road theft and damage policy is cheap and sensible; for the T, road insurance is compulsory and quoted on the frame number before the plate exists. Either way, an 88.5 kg silent bike with a £6,000 price tag needs a ground anchor, a proper chain and a locked building, and the app’s location alerts should be switched on from day one.
- Read the ride-mode and battery sections of the manual – it takes ten minutes.
- Start in the lowest mode on open ground with no obstacles.
- Practise stopping: the front brake is powerful and the bike is light.
- Keep the first sessions short and finish before the rider is tired.
- Check the bolts after the first few rides; new bikes settle.
Maintenance is minimal by design. Brake pads, chain tension, sprockets, tyres and a torque check are the whole routine, and our workshop will do an annual check while you wait if you would rather not. A charge of the 74 V 60 Ah battery takes about 2.5 hours from 20% to 80% and costs well under a pound.
Treat the battery like a phone you care about: room-temperature charging, no long periods completely flat, half charge for storage. Every Ultra Bee HP battery we have seen fail early had been left empty in a cold shed for months; every one that has been looked after is still going strong.
Where do people actually ride? Three places, mostly: their own or a friend’s land, a pay-and-play venue, and a practice track or club. The first is free but needs permission; the second costs a day fee and provides marked routes and marshals; the third adds coaching and racing. Phone any venue before you go to confirm it takes electric bikes and the rider’s age.
Buy Ultra Bee HP from Surron E-Bikes
Why buy from us rather than a marketplace listing? Because a bike is only as good as the aftercare. Our Coalville workshop sees Sur-Rons every day, holds genuine Ultra Bee HP parts on the shelf and handles warranty work directly. You get a real invoice with serial numbers for your insurer, a bike that has actually been checked, and someone to phone when you have a question.
There is no call centre and no ticket queue. Message us on WhatsApp, email contact@surronebike.org or visit the showroom Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and the person answering has probably built the bike you are asking about.
- Reserve the bike: add it to your basket on the Ultra Bee HP page or send us a WhatsApp with the colour you are after.
- Choose how it reaches you: van delivery for £19.99 within 150 miles of Coalville, a quote further afield, or free showroom collection.
- Pay by bank transfer (details are emailed, never published) or by cryptocurrency.
- Within 24 hours we have inspected and charged the bike and confirmed a delivery or collection date with you.
If you are anywhere in the Midlands we are probably closer than you think: Coalville sits between Leicester and Burton, a few minutes off the M1 at junction 22. Come and compare the bikes side by side, ask the workshop anything, pick up parts and, if you decide to buy, take the bike away the same day if it is in stock. Contact us first so we can have the right colour on the floor.

A few terms that come up in every conversation about these bikes:
- PDI – pre-delivery inspection: the checks a dealer makes before the bike leaves.
- Big Wheel / Small Wheel – the two Hyper Bee wheel formats, 14/12 and 12/10 inches.
- Ride modes – selectable power levels; Mode 1 is the gentlest.
- EAPC – electrically assisted pedal cycle, the 250 W legal e-bike category the Sur-Ron range is not part of.
- L1e – the EU/UK moped vehicle class; the Light Bee L1E is type-approved in it.
- Grey import – a bike bought abroad and shipped privately, usually without a UK warranty.
- Certificate of conformity – the document needed to register a type-approved bike with the DVLA.
- Energy recovery – regenerative braking that puts charge back into the battery on a closed throttle.
The wider rules on riding off-road and on the road are on GOV.UK.
