There are four Surron electric bikes UK dealers sell in 2026, and choosing between them is easier than it looks once you know the three questions: how tall is the rider, will the bike ever go on the road, and how much pace do they actually want? This guide explains each model, compares them side by side and says who each one is for – from Surron E-Bikes in Coalville, Leicestershire.
Figures are Sur-Ron UK’s MY26 specification; prices are ours at the time of writing, and the bikes range shows live stock.

The four Surron electric bikes UK riders can buy
| Bike | Peak power | Weight | Range | Road legal | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hyper Bee 2026 | 8 kW | 39 kg | 56 km | No | £2,995 |
| Light Bee X 2026 | 10 kW | 59 kg | 75 km | No | From £3,295 |
| Light Bee L1E 2026 | 10 kW | 62 kg | 75 km | Yes – L1e moped | £4,499 |
| Ultra Bee HP 2026 | 24.5 kW | 88.5 kg | 115 km | HP T only | From £5,999 |
All four share the same design philosophy: a forged aluminium frame, a mid-mounted motor driving a chain, a removable lithium battery that charges from a household socket, and no clutch or gears. What changes is size, power and whether the bike is type-approved for the road.

Hyper Bee 2026: the junior bike
The smallest of the Surron electric bikes UK families buy first. An 8 kW peak motor, 185 Nm, 39 kg, a 58 V 22 Ah battery good for up to 56 km, an adjustable 665–705 mm seat, three ride modes, reverse and anti-wheelie control. Big Wheel (14/12) as standard, Small Wheel (12/10) for the smallest riders, four colours, £2,995. Off-road only. See the Hyper Bee.
- Best for: riders from about six or seven up to around 1.5 m tall, and adults who want a car-boot play bike.
- Not for: road use, or a full-grown adult who wants to ride trails regularly.
Light Bee X 2026: the one that made Sur-Ron famous
The full-size off-road Sur-Ron. For 2026 it has a new mid-mounted 10 kW motor, 295 Nm, a 72 V 35 Ah battery for up to 75 km, four-piston brakes, Sport and Eco modes with a two-level throttle, and a 59 kg kerb weight one person can lift into a van. Five colours, from £3,295. Off-road only. See the Light Bee X.
- Best for: teenagers and adults riding tracks, trails and private land.
- Not for: road use – buy the L1E instead.

Light Bee L1E 2026: the road-legal one
The same 10 kW, 72 V platform as the X with LED lights, indicators, mirrors, a horn, a plate mount and L1e type approval, restricted to 45 km/h (28 mph). Register it with the certificate of conformity we supply, insure it, tax it (£27 a year) and ride it from 16 on a CBT with L-plates. Four colours, £4,499, and every bit as capable off-road as the X. See the Light Bee L1E.
- Best for: 16- and 17-year-olds, commuters, and anyone who wants to ride to the trail rather than trailer to it.
- Not for: riders who want the unrestricted 50 mph off-road – that is the X.

Ultra Bee HP 2026: the flagship
The most powerful of the Surron electric bikes UK riders can buy: 24.5 kW peak in Turbo, 520 Nm, a 74 V 60 Ah battery for up to 115 km, 240 mm forks, an 18-inch rear wheel, three-level traction control, belt primary drive and an app with anti-theft and updates. 88.5 kg, 910 mm seat, 59 mph. The X is off-road (£5,999); the T is a road-legal A1-class motorcycle (£6,295). See the Ultra Bee HP.
- Best for: experienced adults who want petrol-250 pace, and (T) riders from 17 who want road and trail in one bike.
- Not for: beginners or riders under about 1.7 m.

Surron electric bikes UK law: road vs off-road
| Category | What it is | Law | Sur-Ron example |
|---|---|---|---|
| EAPC (e-bike) | Pedal-assist bicycle, 250 W, cuts out at 15.5 mph | No licence, tax or insurance; ride anywhere a bicycle can | None – Sur-Rons are not EAPCs |
| L1e moped | Type-approved two-wheeler limited to 45 km/h | Register, tax, insure; ride from 16 with a CBT | Light Bee L1E |
| L3e motorcycle (A1) | Type-approved motorcycle, 125-equivalent | Register, tax, insure; CBT from 17 or full licence | Ultra Bee HP T |
| Off-road e-moto | No type approval; private land and venues only | No licence, tax or registration; never on public land | Hyper Bee, Light Bee X, Ultra Bee HP X |
That means private land with the landowner’s permission, pay-and-play venues, motocross practice tracks that welcome electric bikes and farmland. Public roads, pavements, parks, footpaths, bridleways and byways are all out; they count as places the public has access to, and riding a motor vehicle on them is an offence whatever powers it.
Because it is a moped rather than a motorcycle, the licence bar is low: 16 years old, a provisional licence and a one-day CBT. There is no theory test and no practical test unless you want to remove the L-plates later. Riders with a car licence from before February 2001, or any full motorcycle licence, can ride it straight away.

|---|---|---|---|
| Hyper Bee 2026 | Children and smaller adults; play riding | No | £2,995 |

| Light Bee L1E 2026 | Road riders from 16 with a CBT; commuting plus trails | Yes – L1e moped | £4,499 |
| Ultra Bee HP 2026 | Experienced adults; full-size motocross pace | HP T only (A1 class) | X £5,999 / T £6,295 |
Every one of the Surron electric bikes UK customers buy from us includes the battery, a UK charger, a pre-delivery inspection, a manufacturer warranty handled in our Coalville workshop and an invoice with serial numbers; the road-legal models include the certificate of conformity. Van delivery is £19.99 within 150 miles; collection is free.
Not ready to pay the full £3,295 today? A 50% deposit takes a specific Light Bee X off sale and holds it for you; the balance is settled before the bike leaves us. It is a simple reservation arrangement rather than a finance agreement, so there is no credit search and nothing to be approved.
Running costs across the range
| Hyper Bee | Light Bee X / L1E | Ultra Bee HP | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Battery | 58 V 22 Ah | 72 V 35 Ah | 74 V 60 Ah |
| Charge time (20–80%) | About 2 hours | About 2.15 hours | About 2.5 hours |
| Cost per full charge | Pence | Well under £1 | Well under £1 |
| Consumables | Pads, chain, sprockets, tyres | Pads, chain, sprockets, tyres | Pads, chain, sprockets, tyres, belt check |
| Tax (road models) | – | £27 (L1E) | £27 (HP T) |
Running costs are close to nothing. A full charge of the 72 V 35 Ah battery costs pence at domestic electricity rates, there is no oil, no filters, no spark plugs and no clutch, and the consumables are the same as any small off-road bike: brake pads, chain and sprockets, tyres and the odd wheel bearing, all of which we stock as genuine Light Bee X parts.
The battery is the part to look after. Charge it indoors at room temperature (about 2.15 hours from 20% to 80%), avoid leaving it flat for weeks, and store it around half charge if the bike is being put away for winter. Treated that way it will comfortably outlast the wear items around it.
How to buy Surron electric bikes UK-wide
- Pick your colour on the Light Bee X product page and add the bike to your basket, or message us on WhatsApp with what you want.
- Choose delivery in our own van (£19.99 within 150 miles of our LE67 postcode, quoted beyond that) or free collection from the showroom in Coalville.
- Pay by bank transfer or cryptocurrency. We never print bank details on the website; they are emailed to you from contact@surronebike.org once you have ordered.
- We confirm payment, carry out the pre-delivery inspection and either book your delivery date or tell you the bike is ready to collect. Orders are processed within 24 hours.
Which of the four is right for you?
Tell us the rider’s height, whether the bike needs to go on the road and how much pace they want. We will answer in one message.
Why buy from us rather than a marketplace listing? Because a bike is only as good as the aftercare. Our Coalville workshop sees Sur-Rons every day, holds genuine Light Bee X parts on the shelf and handles warranty work directly. You get a real invoice with serial numbers for your insurer, a bike that has actually been checked, and someone to phone when you have a question.
There is no call centre and no ticket queue. Message us on WhatsApp, email contact@surronebike.org or visit the showroom Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and the person answering has probably built the bike you are asking about.
Visiting is the quickest way to settle any question about fit or feel. We are in Coalville, Leicestershire, open weekdays 9am to 5pm; the M1, M42 and A42 all pass within a few minutes of the door. Arrange a showroom visit, tell us the rider’s height, and we will have the right bike ready.
Where do people actually ride? Three places, mostly: their own or a friend’s land, a pay-and-play venue, and a practice track or club. The first is free but needs permission; the second costs a day fee and provides marked routes and marshals; the third adds coaching and racing. Phone any venue before you go to confirm it takes electric bikes and the rider’s age.
If any of the terminology is new, here is a quick glossary:
- PDI – pre-delivery inspection: the checks a dealer makes before the bike leaves.
- Big Wheel / Small Wheel – the two Hyper Bee wheel formats, 14/12 and 12/10 inches.
- Ride modes – selectable power levels; Mode 1 is the gentlest.
- EAPC – electrically assisted pedal cycle, the 250 W legal e-bike category the Sur-Ron range is not part of.
- L1e – the EU/UK moped vehicle class; the Light Bee L1E is type-approved in it.
- Grey import – a bike bought abroad and shipped privately, usually without a UK warranty.
- Certificate of conformity – the document needed to register a type-approved bike with the DVLA.
- Energy recovery – regenerative braking that puts charge back into the battery on a closed throttle.
Surron electric bikes UK: questions we get asked
- “Are Surron electric bikes UK-legal on cycle paths?” No. They are not EAPCs; the EAPC rules do not apply.
- “Which of the Surron electric bikes UK parents buy for children?” The Hyper Bee, from about six or seven with the seat low and Mode 1 selected.
- “Do all Surron electric bikes UK dealers sell use the same charger?” No – 58 V, 72 V and 74 V systems each have their own.
- “Can I convert one model into another?” No. Type approval and frame size are fixed at the factory.
- “Do you stock all four?” Yes; the range page shows what is on the floor today.
Delivery day is short and practical. The driver unloads the bike, shows you the battery and charger, runs through the modes and leaves you the invoice with serial numbers. Photograph it and store the battery indoors that night – two habits that protect the bike and your insurance.
- Charge the battery fully indoors and fit it until it clicks.
- Check tyre pressures, the chain tension and that both brakes bite firmly.
- Set the seat height so the rider can get a foot down, and select Mode 1.
- Ride slowly on flat ground first – the throttle is instant and there is no clutch to modulate it.
- Step up a mode only when the rider is bored of the current one, not before.
Surron electric bikes UK: the short version

- Teenager or adult, off-road: Light Bee X.
- Need the road at 16: Light Bee L1E.

Those four lines settle nearly every Surron electric bikes UK question we are asked. The rest – colour, delivery date, deposit – is the easy part.
